Client: Slice of Heaven Bakery
Skills: Multi-Page Design, Document Design, User-Experience
Tools: InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Canva
As part of a Document Design course, we were tasked with creating a multi-page design document. The project required analyzing the client’s current handbook and developing an innovative solution for their growing team, focusing on design, layouts, typeface/typesetting, and color theory. Additionally, we needed to reorganize the content to enhance the user experience.
To begin, I established a grid in Adobe InDesign and entered the text using a traditional hierarchy format suited to a handbook. To align the design with the client’s branding, I selected images that matched their color scheme and added visual focal points for each page. I also chose typefaces and type settings consistent with the brand’s logo to maintain a cohesive look.
My primary objective was to ensure the final handbook reflected feedback a real client might provide in such a project. I envisioned what the client, a bakery, would need in a handbook and how employees would use it. The final product successfully conveys what a bakery client would value—fun, visually engaging content that shows happy employees and presents information in an organized, easily accessible manner.
